Away with the kids?
Il Nido is a great apartment for couples with toddlers or younger children. With space to play indoors and on the terrace, you can relax and enjoy some ‘adult’ time.
Il Nido, or The Nest is a charming renovated apartment located on the second floor (no lift) of the Palazzo di via Celso.
In a previous life, this was the palace attic and we found some intriguing writings on the walls during the renovation, which we guarded with special care.
They relate to the birth of members of the original family, a list of stocks including the tomato sauce stored in the attic, amusing Goliardic poems; even quotes from Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy.
The apartment has one bedroom plus a double sofa bed to sleep four guests.
Living Area
The bright living room with double sofa bed and TV is open-plan to the well-equipped kitchenette, which leads out to the terrace.
Bedroom
The light and spacious bedrooms feature a beautiful vaulted ceiling above the four poster canopy bed. There’s a wardrobe, chest of drawers and an armchair. A cot can be added if required.
Decades-old writings decorate the walls of the bedroom, which we painstakingly preserved during the renovation, so that you can sense some of the intriguing past of this palace building.
Over the years, the bedroom has been used as storage, a laundry and an attic room.
Bathroom
The bathroom is equipped with a large walk-in shower with views to the Ionian sea. Just don’t spend too long in the shower admiring the views!
The Terrace
Step directly out to our sea view terrace. With no stairs to climb, this is a rarity and privilege in Gallipoli’s historic centre. The space is completely private and furnished with a gazebo, dining area, sofa and lounger, it’s a dreamy spot for romantic al fresco dinners or cosy up under the stars.
A BBQ is also available for free on request.
Practicalities
Il Nido offers every kind of comfort: air conditioning in all rooms, Wi-Fi and heating system for comfortable autumn-winter stays.
There are three flights of stairs to reach the apartment and the last one is a bit steep, so it’s not ideal for guests who have difficulties with stairs.
We have baby and toddlers equipment available. Just tell us what you need when you book.
Parking is restricted in the historical centre during the summer season, but you can park at the harbour, just a few 100 metres away.
